Prodigious amounts of Guinness and corned beef will be poured and served in the next few days, and everyone will break out the green hats, shirts and shamrocks.

St. James’s Gate Publick House, 167 Maplewood Ave., Maplewood; (973) 378-2222. Small, cozy pub in the village with wood floors from vats once inside the Guinness brewery in St. James’s Gate, Dublin. The food’s first-rate; try the Gaelic steak, a pan-fried sirloin in a Jameson Irish whiskey sauce with sautéed mushrooms; the fish and chips; and the Publick House fries. One tip — ask for them extra crispy.
